We’re thrilled to introduce Monica Pool Knox as the newest member of Summer's Advisory Board! Monica is known for developing progressive, innovative people strategies to scale businesses and drive growth in complex, global environments. She has twice served as a public company CHRO and has led global human capital strategies as an executive for over 25 years within companies such as Microsoft, Twitter, Sony, PepsiCo and Verizon Wireless, Puerto Rico. Monica currently serves as a board director for Swedish Health System and UK based Mindora. She’s also an investor and advisor for a number of companies and venture funds in the healthcare, digital tech and financial services sectors such as Clear Coast Ventures and BetterUp.
As part of Summer’s Advisory Board, Monica will provide rich insights into the needs of a rapidly evolving workforce comprised of borrowers grappling with the stresses of rising college costs and student debt. She’ll also serve as a sounding board for Summer’s product team, as a resource for our customers looking to advocate for their employees, and as an industry voice in conversations increasingly emerging around the challenges of paying off student debt.
“Today, student debt is a growing problem for many in the workforce, particularly for single parents, those earlier in career and underrepresented employees including those in the black, Latino and Asian communities, ” said Monica. “I was impressed by Summer’s commitment to address this problem, having saved borrowers more than $1.75 billion in student debt in just a few years. Because financial challenges can have such an impact on one’s mental, emotional and physical well being, I’m excited to contribute to Summer’s efforts to tackle this important problem as a part of Summer’s Advisory Board.”
“Monica’s experience speaks for itself. She’s a truly accomplished leader and a respected voice in the industry, and her proven track record of innovating in HR is the perfect compliment to Summer’s ambitions,” said Will Sealy, CEO and co-founder of Summer. “We’re already learning so much from her, and expect she’ll be a true advocate for this next generation of benefits in addition to being an incredibly valuable resource for the Summer team.”
